The Living Stones Covenant
We acknowledge that God works through all
people, all times, and all circumstances.
We believe that the people of God have
been called throughout history to listen
prayerfully and to step out in faith.
Living Stones is a partnership of dioceses
and communities of faith engaged in
Christian mission, committed to the
ministry of all the baptized.
We believe the church is the body of Christ
and proclaims Christ to the world.
Each person in the body is uniquely called
and gifted for ministry.
In the context of theological reflection, the
Living Stones partnership exists to support,
challenge, and strengthen ministry in our
respective jurisdictions.
We affirm these principles of ministry development
• All Christian ministry is rooted in the covenant
of baptism.
• As we reshape ministry, we will seek to be congruent with scripture and guided by tradition, reason, and experience.
• The Christian church is a ministering community whose effectiveness is measured not only by numbers, but by the quality of life we share.
• Every Christian community is blessed with the gifts it requires for effective ministry and mission.
• The diocese exists primarily to encourage, support, and challenge the ministry and mission of local congregations.
• Discernment is a key component in calling
local leaders into a wide variety of
ministries.
